It’s no secret that many of us are busy. We have jobs and families and myriad other responsibilities that take both our time and our energy. But that also means that we may struggle to find time to write.
Finding Time To Write
So, what can we do if we want to write a story or finally finish that novel we’ve always wanted to write? The act of writing is an expensive cost for our souls; it’s hard and it’s exhausting and it can take so much out of us.
How can we fit in writing after our daily lives have already depleted our energy? The thing that we need to remember is that we don’t need to rush to the end of our book. We can find time to write in small moments, too.
- Make use of smartphone memos. Try an app like Bear or just use your phone’s built-in Notes application to work on your story. It’s perfect to write when you’re on a long commute to and from work.
- Block off time to write. If you’re lucky enough to be able to do this, schedule writing time like you would schedule your meetings for work. Even 15-30 minutes can help you to make progress on your story.
- Keep a notebook by your bed. First drafts don’t need to be perfect, so why not do it the old-fashioned way? A notebook by your bed is a great way to fit in some writing time! You might even dream out the plot of your story!
