It can’t be the time again, can it? This year went by way too fast. But once again, we are entering into another year. A new year means that we can improve upon the previous year. We can find ways to grow in our lives. And that includes growing as a writer.
I made the mistake of reading some of my undergraduate essays. These essays are over 10 years old now and wow…I was not a good writer. I qualified as an “emergent writer” at best. But those old essays make me cringe. I cringe even more when I compare them to my more recent published work.
I am a better writer now than I was a decade ago. And that’s the way it should be.
As writers, we should be improving our craft all of the time. Learn, read, practice, write. There is no right way to grow as a writer because it’s going to depend on you. It varies by individual.
Your Writer Challenge for 2020 is to identify where and how you can grow as a writer into this new year…and throughout the new decade.
